Consultant clinical psychologist and associate clinical director

Dr Olivia Kneen is a Consultant Clinical Psychologist who works with both children and adults, with extensive experience of working with young people and families. She is passionate about helping individuals better understand themselves, embrace their strengths, and find constructive paths forward.

Olivia has worked within NHS CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) for 15 years, holding roles as a Consultant and Clinical Team Lead. Consultant titles are reserved for clinicians with the highest level of experience. She has particular expertise in supporting children and young people with neurodiversity.

Currently, Olivia is associate clinical director at Harwood Child Psychology, supervising and supporting clinicians whilst also undertaking neurodevelopmental assessments and therapy with her own clients. Known for her thoughtful and compassionate approach, Olivia prides herself on building strong, trusting relationships with her clients and their families.

She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Nottingham before training as a Clinical Psychologist at University College London (UCL), qualifying in 2012. Olivia is trained in the assessment of both Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and has extensive experience in adapting therapeutic approaches to suit each individual’s unique way of understanding the world.

Olivia is trained in a range of evidence-based therapies, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), systemic therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). She supports individuals and parents with a variety of mental health challenges, including anxiety and low mood. She also works with relationship difficulties and has a specialist interest in working with young people who have experienced trauma or adversity. Her work is rooted in helping individuals, parents and families draw on their strengths and resources to not only cope but thrive.
