Kiran Sandhu
Kiran has 13 years’ experience of working within mental health services across different clinical settings, with a diverse population. She achieved her Bachelor of Science degree, with honours, in Psychology in 2011. She then went on to complete her Doctorate in Forensic Psychology Practice at the University of Birmingham in 2014.
Since 2018, Kiran has primarily worked in neurodevelopmental assessment services across a range of NHS providers. She is a neurodiversity affirming clinician, skilled in assessing children, young people and adults for autism and ADHD. Kiran is someone who cares deeply about the work that she does and strives to ensure that the assessments she conducts are a collaborative process in which people are left feeling understood and validated. She seeks to understand the strengths and hopes of the people she assesses, whilst also acknowledging the difficulties they may face.

Kiran is trained in using ‘gold-standard’ assessment tools, including the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS), the Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised (ADI-R) and the Autism Clinical Interview Adults (ACIA) for conducting autism assessments. She is also trained to use the ADHD Clinical Evaluation (ACE) and Diagnostic Interview for ADHD (DIVA-5/Young DIVA-5) for conducting ADHD assessments.
Kiran also has experience of conducting highly specialised psychological assessments of complex clients involved in child protection procedures. She also has experience in providing consultation to staff working within residential children’s homes. Kiran has also worked in inpatient services supporting adults with learning disabilities. Further, Kiran has experience in providing care and treatment to people who have served in the military, many of whom will have experienced complex trauma. As such, she is confident in working with a range of clinical presentations and ages with varying severity.
Kiran is a registered practitioner psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council.
