Chartered Clinical Psychologist specialising in children and teenagers with neurological and neurodevelopmental conditions

Dr Jennifer Vaughan qualified as a Chartered Clinical Psychologist in 2011 and has significant experience working in the NHS with children and adults experiencing a range of emotional and/or physical health difficulties, including extensive experience working with people with acquired neurological and neuro-developmental differences (e.g. Autism and ADHD).

Jennifer is an approachable, reliable and conscientious practitioner, with specialist interests in autism and ADHD.   She completed her undergraduate psychology degree at The University of Sheffield and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at The University of Manchester. She completed further qualifications in Clinical Neuropsychology at The University of Glasgow, and understanding autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions at Middlesex University in London.  Jennifer’s academic and clinical experience makes her highly specialist at what she does.

Throughout her career, Jennifer has worked in a range of NHS and independent settings, including with mild to moderate mental health difficulties as well as severe mental health difficulties. She has also worked within hospital and forensic settings meaning Jennifer is confident at working with a wide range of presentations and severity. Her most recent position in the NHS was in a senior role, leading a team of mental health clinicians.

In addition to her specialism in neurodevelopmental and neurological disorders, Jennifer has worked with a wide-range of emotional and life-situation difficulties, providing highly specialist assessment, formulation and evidence-based interventions tailored to individual needs. Amongst others, the therapeutic models she specialises in include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Eye-Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy and Cognitive Rehabilitation and Neuropsychological Approaches.

She is Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered and a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS). She has enhanced Disclosure and Barring (DBS) clearance.
