Idil Kilinc

Clinical Psychologist specialising in children, teenagers and families.

Dr Idil Kilinc is a senior clinical psychologist specialising in working with children, young people and families. She has worked with young people in a range of settings, including in schools, paediatric hospitals and CAMHS services in London. She works therapeutically with young people and families at Harwood Child Psychology, with a particular specialism in working with young people who have otherwise found it hard to engage with therapy.

Alongside her private work, Idil continues to work as a senior clinical psychologist in a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) in the NHS, where she also supervises other clinicians. She works with a range of clients, including some more complex mental health presentations and a large part of her caseload is engaging and working with neurodiverse people, e.g. autism, ADHD and learning differences.

In her clinical work, Idil aims to help her clients make sense of their experiences, develop skills to feel more able to regulate their feelings and become more resilient. She works with clients between the ages of 0-18 and adapts her approach using play and creative arts to meet developmental needs. She is qualified in assessing autism and learning disability and is trained in delivering specialist interventions for the needs of her neurodiverse clients (autism, ADHD, learning disability). She is passionate about providing a person-centred, warm and non-judgemental therapeutic space where young people and their families can feel comfortable and supported in achieving their goals.

She is experienced in working with clients across a range of mental health difficulties, and degrees of severity and complexity. She uses evidence based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Narrative Therapy and Systemic/Family Therapy. She also offers parent focused interventions to help families feel more confident and empowered in supporting their child's recovery.

Idil offers sessions face to face in our London Bridge clinic and also online. Idil can offer sessions fluently in both English and Turkish.
