Dr Sophie Griffith-Jones
Dr Sophie Griffith-Jones is a fully qualified and registered Clinical Psychologist with many years of experience working in a variety of NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health services (CAMHS).
Sophie is part of the therapy team at Harwood Child Psychology and offers a clinic on Fridays at the Hampstead Garden Suburb clinic on Finchley Road. She is available for both online and face to face appointments. The rest of the week Sophie continues to work in the NHS.
Sophie has worked within NHS Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in a specialist team supporting children, young people and families with complex neurodevelopmental conditions and learning disabilities. She has also worked in a paediatric team at Great Ormond Street Hospital, supporting children with life-limiting conditions. Sophie’s paediatric experience has given her a specialist knowledge of supporting children with anxiety, as well as a variety of other mental health difficulties.
Sophie is able to help to support complex cases as well as more simple mental health concerns and has lots of experience adapting her therapy to get the best outcomes with neurodiverse children as well as those who struggle to trust other professionals. Sophie works very hard to build a really strong relationship with young people, so they feel confident in opening up to her.
Sophie has experience working with a range of mental health concerns, including depression, suicidal ideation, self-harm, anxiety, OCD, trauma, and psychosis. She also has experience of working with children, young people, and adults with autism and ADHD, including post-diagnostic therapeutic support. Her paediatric experience included work with families experiencing grief and loss.
Sophie enjoys contributing to the research literature, and has worked as a therapist on a Randomised Control Trial testing a new type of therapy for people who hear voices.
Sophie provides an integrative therapeutic approach, drawing on a range of evidence-based therapeutic disciplines to provide therapy that is tailored to the individual needs of her clients. As well as being a qualified clinical psychologist, she is a fully qualified CBT therapist as well.
Sophie is passionate about looking beyond mental health diagnoses to fully understand distress. She values empathy, compassion, and creativity in her therapeutic approach. She’ll work with both the young people and their families to get the best possible outcomes.
