Dr Holly Taylor
Dr Holly is a Clinical Psychologist specialising in working with children, young people and families. She is passionate about understanding each young person as an individual and providing thoughtful, holistic neurodevelopmental assessments that place the child’s voice and experience at the centre. Holly leads on neurodevelopmental assessments with Harwood Child Psychology.
Holly has extensive experience working across the NHS, specialist schools and private practice. Her current NHS role is as a senior clinical psychologist within a nationally renowned and specialist service supporting children and young people with complex presentations of autism, ADHD and intellectual disability. This includes undertaking complex and second-opinion neurodevelopmental assessments, as well as supporting young people who are at risk of inpatient admission or who are already receiving inpatient care due to significant mental health difficulties. Therefore Holly is well placed to assess and support the families of the more complex assessments when needed.
Holly has worked across a range of CAMHS services, supporting children and young people presenting with neurodevelopmental differences, intellectual disability, trauma, anxiety, depression, OCD, disordered eating, and psychosis, as well as those who are care experienced. These varied roles have given her a broad understanding of the ways in which neurodevelopmental differences can interact with mental health, relationships, family circumstances and a young person’s wider environment.
Holly is formally trained and has extensive clinical experience in carrying out autism assessments, including the ADOS-2 and ADI-R, as well as cognitive assessments including the WISC-V and WAIS-IV.
Holly takes a warm, collaborative and holistic approach to assessment, working with young people, families, carers and professionals to develop a shared understanding of each young person’s strengths, needs, experiences and individual differences. She takes time to consider the wider context of a young person’s development, relationships and environment, with the aim of developing meaningful formulations and practical recommendations that help those around them understand and support them more effectively. Holly will not narrowly just look for diagnostic labels.
Holly is HCPC registered and holds a BSc (Hons) in Psychology, an MSc in Early Intervention in Psychosis and a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
