Chloe Gibbons

Clinical Psychologist specialising in working with children, adolescents and families

Dr Chloe Gibbons is a registered Clinical Psychologist specialising in working with children, young people and families. She has gained extensive experience of working in different services for young people and their families, including NHS child and adolescent mental health services (CAMHS), charities providing mental health support to children and young people, and specialist neurodevelopmental services (both NHS and private). Through this experience, she is skilled in working therapeutically with young people and their families, as well as in carrying out assessments of neurodevelopmental conditions and working with neurodiverse individuals. She is particularly talented at engaging young people who don’t find trusting professionals easy.

In addition to this work, Chloe is experienced in working with individuals across the lifespan with a variety of presenting mental health needs, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and OCD. She is currently working in a specialist trauma service, alongside her private work.

Chloe is experienced in providing thoughtful assessments, formulations, and therapeutic interventions alongside clients to create a warm, safe and compassionate space in which to better understand and support them. She is formally trained and has extensive clinical experience of carrying out autism assessments (e.g., ADOS-2) and cognitive assessments (e.g., WAIS-IV, WISC-V). She draws upon a range of models in her clinical work, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), systemic approaches, trauma-focused approaches, and narrative approaches.

She is passionate about providing carefully considered, holistic and high-quality assessments and support for the individuals that she works with. Having worked in mainstream and learning disability services, both privately and in the NHS, she is adept in adapting her work to meet the needs, abilities and preferences of those she is working with. Recognising that seeking support can initially feel daunting and the challenges many experience in feeling "heard", she adopts an open, warm and friendly approach to her work in the hope of helping individuals to feel as safe and comfortable as possible.

She is aware of the importance of assessments, formulations and interventions leading to meaningful and positive changes for individuals, and works hard to ensure that her work helps to facilitate a greater understanding of individuals, their experiences, and helpful ways of moving forwards for them and the people around them.

Chloe is a Clinical Psychologist approved by the HCPC. She completed her BSc (Hons) in Psychology at the University of Bristol, and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at University College, London (UCL).
