Ashleigh Murray
Ashleigh Murray is an experienced, accredited Play and Creative Arts Therapist. She specialises in working with children and young people who have social, emotional and mental health needs. She has many years of experience working alongside CAMHS and social services and has been part of a team developing a therapeutic programme designed to support children and families who have experienced Domestic Violence. She particularly specialises in working with children and young people who have experienced some form of trauma in their early life. She has worked for years directly in schools, so is very familiar with how to help children manage a stressful school experience.
Ashleigh is a client-centred therapist, which means she prioritises putting the child or young person at the centre of their sessions and the overall therapeutic process. She is extremely caring and is always willing to go the extra mile with families to make sure they are supported. It is important to her that the child has a voice in their journey, whether through words, creativity, or the language of play. She believes that working in this way enables her to build a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship with her clients. It also gives her insight into what they would like to explore in their sessions, ultimately paving the way for positive change.
Ashleigh has had extra training in Developmental, Individual-differences, and Relationship-based Floor time which is a therapy approach that is used to help children with neurodevelopmental conditions e.g. autism, ADHD and learning differences. She has also completed training in different parenting programmes, such as Non-Violent Resistance Parenting and Parent-Child Attachment Play to support parents and Therapeutic Life Story Work to help young people who have experienced trauma in their early life.
Ashleigh likes to keep an element of fun and creativity in her sessions, the messier the better. She can often be found singing, dancing, covered in glitter and putting on accents with her clients.
